SALEM, Ark. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged an Arkansas National Guard soldier with threatening to shoot students at a high school in Fulton County, though the soldier claims he was just trying to shock his friends.

Fulton County Sheriff Buck Foley says 22-year-old Jacob Morley is charged with falsely communicating a terroristic threat for a statement he made to two soldiers on Aug. 4.

The Batesville Guard reports the two soldiers took the threat seriously and notified authorities. State police conducted an investigation, which led to Morley's arrest.

The arrest affidavit says Morley was training at the armory in Mountain Home he was considering the shooting. Morley allegedly said he wanted the teachers to carry the guilt.

The affidavit says Morley admitted making the statement but he was just trying to provoke a reaction.

I'm curious about a follow up on this story. His pre-trial hearing was scheduled earlier this week but I haven't seen anything about an outcome... meaning, does he still go to trial in May? Something else of note that others, especially parents, should know. He is the owner of a popular online video gaming site. I know this because I was researching such sites last summer when my nephew was showing an interest in the game, Minecraft. I had joined Morley's particular site, Betterverse (which includes the Bettercraft and UtopianRealm game sites), in an effort to see what kinds of things young teens are exposed to when playing online multiplayer video games. I was horrified to find out just 2 weeks after joining that the owner of this site was arrested for these terroristic threats against children when the site went black for a while. Anyway, this is why I am inquiring about a followup because I know kids as young as 13, play on his multiplayer video game site and I know he regularly has text interactions with those that play on his site. His in game name is Asphodan. I would feel much better knowing that his threat was taken seriously enough to hinder his ability to influence young minds.

Too bad he couldn't be prosecuted by the military. I am sure the inmates at Leavenworth would love to have him as a resident.

I agree wpsark. With all of the random shootings at schools, movie theaters, etc., this is no joking matter.
