CONWAY, AR - A Conway County man has been convicted in a 2012 hit and run death.

Michael Fowler has been found guilty of negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, and DWI in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

The verdict came in this morning shortly before 11 o'clock on the second day of his trial.

Fowler was accused of killing Garret Martin, 12, in the accident last August.

Martin was riding an ATV in a neighborhood just outside of Wooster when investigators say Fowler came barreling through and hit him.

Police say Fowler sped away from the scene before they found him in Morrilton.

"We're just gonna take it one step at a time and pray God gives us grace and strength to get through this because we need it," said Marie Williamson, the victim's aunt.

The jury sentenced Fowler to 55 years in prison.  He will be eligible for parole after 9 years.
