Wednesday night, a jury sentenced a Little Rock man to 25 years in prison for killing a 14-year-old boy.

The twelve men and women convicted Michael Sadler of second degree murder after a quick one day trial.

Wednesday night, Sadler told FOX16 he was sorry for killing Michael Stanley.

"I hope they find comfort somewhere. I lost a son, too. And, it wasn't intentional. I never intended to kill that boy," said Sadler about the murder.

Unless he is paroled, Sadler will spend 25 years locked up for killing Stanley. Stanley's family thinks the jury should've given Sadler the maximum sentence of 30 years.

"Michael's not here no more, so I'm his voice," says Stanley's mother, Raida Bunche.

In May, Sadler ran Stanley over with his van after the teen stole his wallet. Sadler then beat the teen, but in court Wednesday, the medical examiner said the kicking and punching did not kill the teen, the van did.

"Mr. Sadler didn't have any business approaching him anyway. Had he not approached him, we wouldn't be here today," says Bunche.

For Stanley's mother, no sentence is long enough.

"I have no words for him. He took away my life. I'm not who I was, nor are my kids. So, my life will never be the same," she says.

Thursday, she will go to her son's grave with her sister to watch his tombstone get installed.

"This is what we have to do for the rest of our life. Michael Sadler received 25 years, my nephew will never see 25 years," says Stanley's aunt.

Prosecutors were looking for a first degree murder conviction. The defense said Sadler was guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter.

The jury chose second degree murder.

Prosecutors went through several witnesses at the one day trial, but the defense didn't have any.

Truthteller...how can u say a child got what he deserved. That is sickening. And u actually will never know the whole story anyway but....A teenager boy was killed bc be had a man's wallet. Yes...He was wrong.. He should have been in trouble for stealing a wallet but....Did he deserve to be killed?; No!! If he isn't threatening somebodys life then nobody has a valid reason to take his. Did the man fear for his life??? Did he??? No...He just wanted his cash back. Again...The boy was wrong to steal but the man was wrong to kill.

Sad situation for both families. wth has me wondering what the man was doing with the child to begin with. Two wrongs don't make a right; they just hurt two families in this case.

The attitude of my fellow humans blows me away me sometimes. I'm sure none of you judgemental folks ever did anything wrong as a kid. I'm also sick of the parent's always receiving the blame. I imagine you know nothing of this family and you're assuming a lot of things. Saying a child "got what he deserved" after he was run over by a van and then beat as he lie dying on the ground is sick sick sick. Seriously, I can't express how disgusted I am with some of you.

Total miscarriage of justice. The guy did society a favor by removing one more thug criminal that would have stolen from others (and maybe worse as time progressed). Mom needs to stop trying to blame the victim and realize that her son got what was coming to him.

Yeah blame mom after all she did conceive him all by herself. Maybe it was a miracle. She didn't wonder were her child. How in the hell do you know that.Ill be thanking the guy that smashes his head in when he get to cummins. I usually don't wish bad on anyone but this just don't sit right with me. He had no effin reason doing buisness with a kid anyway.

It's not the guy fault for his death! It's his moms fault! She didn't wonder what her child was at? Did she tell him how important it was not to take from others? She said he should get the max because he took her child. I think you should thank that man because he was too much for you to handle him, he did u a favor! Scum!

WHAT IF the victim had had a legal concealed weapon on him, pulled it out and killed the "child" for messin' with him? How would you feel about that? I am sorry, but as far as I am concerned, 15 is the new 25, and most of them will just go on to worse crime. I feel sorry for the moms that face their child being killed by a police officer, or anyone else, but I am fed up with constant breakins, gun shots, etc. ruining my community. You can't even take a walk anymore for exercise...that is disgusting.
