JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Six inches of snow fell and then melted quickly, but children still got in snowball fights and drivers worried about whether roads would be slushy.
Most parts of Arkansas don't see snow until December or January. Snow began Monday evening and by Tuesday up to a half-foot had fallen in the eastern half of the state.
Some children who were out for Thanksgiving last week enjoyed an impromptu day off as more than a dozen school districts called snow days.
Television station KAIT in Jonesboro reported that around 2,500 customers of the Craighead Electric Cooperative Corp. had power out for a time, and that power was also out to some communities served by Entergy Arkansas.
Temperatures are expected to remain low this week, but no more snow is expected soon.
