TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — A judge has rescheduled a preliminary court hearing for an Oklahoma teenager charged with animal cruelty and the theft of five horses.
Jaci Rae Jackson had been due in court next week, but a judge delayed the hearing until May 14 because of a scheduling conflict. The 19-year-old is charged with the theft of five horses from Southern Arkansas University, where she was a member of the rodeo team.
Jackson has pleaded not guilty in Columbia County, Ark., to six felony counts in connection with the thefts of five horses, a trailer and riding equipment. The horses, saddles, a trailer and other equipment worth an estimated $200,000 were stolen during the night of Nov. 2.
Four of the horses were recovered in Oklahoma but one of them was killed.
