Hempstead Co inmate dies

HOPE, AR - An inmate at the Hempstead County Detention Center died Monday after collapsing following a shower, according to the sheriff.

Roy Foster, 57, was putting on his clothes after a shower when he collapsed, the sheriff says. A detention officer immediately began CPR and called for EMS.

Foster was taken to the hospital where he died. His body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Foster had been in custody since December 17, 2011 and was being held on a Failure to Appear warrant from the Hempstead County Circuit Court for failing to appear on 3 Counts of Rape of a 6 year old girl.
