HOPE, AR – A Hope Police Officer has died after an 18-day battle with the West Nile Virus, FOX16 has learned.
According to the Hope Police Department, Sergeant David "D.J." Johnson died on September 15 after an 18-day-battle with the West Nile Virus.
"Our hearts breaks for his family and friends,” The Hope Police Department said in a statement. “This has been a tremendously hard on the family as well as our department. Especially those on the night shift that works so closely with David."
“David was a giant of a man that touched the lives of so many people. He was a true public servant who cared for the City of Hope, Arkansas and its entire people." Chief JR Wilson said. "David’s legacy will live on in our department. He was a special person, a tremendous Sergeant and wonderful friend.”Josh Rosenthal
