I never even recieved a letter from Regions telling me about the $4 fee they started charging. After hearing about it, my friend and I did some searching and found that First Security and Liberty Bank of Arkansas aren't charging and have free checking.

Guess I am old fashioned, the way I avoid them is to use cash, besides I'm not too big on providing the government instant tracking of everything I buy. I seriously do not have one, only a credit card for internet purchases and travel

Regions (my bank) DOES make money when I use my ATM card. But apparently not enough according to a letter I received last month. They're only going to be 80% as greedy as BoA and charge me $4. I agree, WLRVoter, end corporate welfare!!!! Which banks aren't charging the new fee?

For the corporate welfare banks to charge customers to use their own money is immoral. Bank of America was a recipient of Billions of tax payer funds as they were "too big to fail." Now, as they allow their customers to fail into bankruptcy due to the failed economy caused by the megabanks, bond daddies, and hedge fund thiefs, we are being asked to just take it. Outrageous. Bank of America corporate chieftains should be in jail!
