SEARCY, AR - The company that bought Yarnell's plant says it will produce ice cream in the Searcy plant.

Buck Layne, President of the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce, says that the Chicago company that bought Yarnell's Ice Creams will reopen the plant and produce ice cream.

Layne says he has talked to Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co. and their plans are to reopen. There is no timetable of when that will happen.

Yarnell's was forced to sell all of its assets at auction when it declared bankruptcy.

it would go probably be a safe bet that the company from CHICAGO that purchased Yarnell's will be hiring those skilled employee's that unfortunately lost their jobs when Yarnell's melted away (LOL on that pun). Great for Searcy ! NOW We Arkansans need to insist on buying locally produced products, it may cost a tad more sometimes but ONLY we can help sustain Arkansas....BUY ARKANSAS PRODUCED PRODUCTS and Keep a Hawg fan employed !

Wonder if they had to pay after they won. Some people deserve refunds.

That's awesome for Searcy. At least Searcy is getting new industry jobs. Here in Batesville we get pizza joints. And other small food buisnesses that won't be here much after a year. We need industry in this town. Batesville is dying. Of course the swell in drug deals and illegals taking over doesn't help much. Use to be a nice place to live.

smarta55 - Another website says this "any individuals who bid on recipes or some other items in Wednesday's auction will not have their sales approved because all intellectual property goes to Schulze & Burch."

Guess the people with the recipes are about to get a quick reward for their investmate.

Maybe they will hire all the previous employees of Yarnell's...that would be so nice for those people!
