LITTLE ROCK, AR - Crews performing rehabilitation of Interstate 30 just west of Malvern will require alternating lane closures beginning this week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The work involves reconstructing six miles of Interstate 30 between Rockport and Social Hill. Redstone Construction Group, Inc. of Little Rock, has the the $23 million contract to do the work.

Construction of temporary ramp connections at the Highway 84 Interchange near mile marker 97 will require the eastbound and westbound outside lanes to be temporarily closed beginning Monday, June 11th. Once work is completed on the outside lanes, lane closures will be shifted to the inside lanes. This preliminary work will be completed prior to the July 4th holiday, weather permitting. All lanes will be open for the holiday.

The week after the July 4th holiday, permanent lane closures will be in place. Traffic will be limited to one travel lane in each direction through the construction area until the end of the year.
You should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.

Are they completely tearing up the existing road and rebuilding from scratch? If not, they're wasting their time as it will be in the same condition it is now in about five years or less.
