JACKSONVILLE, AR -- Columbus, Ohio, investigators drove a long way to talk to Bryce Allen Jr. Detectives say shortly after surveillance snapped a picture of Allen inside a hospital, he got into an argument with a valet driver. The valet driver called security. That's when they say Allen intentionally hit the security guard with a black 2000 model Cadillac, with an Arkansas license plate "356-RIW." The guard fired his gun but to no avail.
"Since that time we've been actively looking for the vehicle and have been in contact with the Jacksonville Police searching for it," said Detective James Howe with the Columbus Police Department.
Howe said they tracked Allen's license plate number all the way to Jacksonville. The scenario sounds similar to what he's accused of locally.
Jacksonville police investigators say Allen purposely ran into and killed Fire Captain Donny Jones and injured two other first responders as the trio helped Allen's mother on the side of the road.
I talked to Allen's father shortly after that.
"All I want to say is I'm sorry and he's a church going man and he needs mental help," he said in a March 2012 interview.
Columbus detectives hope to find the car Allen drove, believing it contains evidence they need.
"Jacksonville Police, can't say enough good about them. They've been incredible throughout my investigation and been very helpful," said Howe.
