JACKSONVILLE, AR – Despite being down the street from the Jacksonville Police Department, residents of Stone Street have been burglarized 6 times in the last 8 months. One resident was robbed twice in that span, and police have no suspects in the crimes.
Jenny Harrison’s home was burglarized in April after culprits smashed the back door to get in the house. They came back just before Thanksgiving to steal more.
“They threw a 2x4 through our window this time and then they went in through the back door and stile basically the same thing, the TV and the Wii,” says Harrison.
Like many neighbors on Stone Street, Harrison continues fighting back against the burglars who keep coming back, and it is costing her money. She put new security bars on the back door and installed an alarm system.
“It’s really disturbing what we have to do,” says Harrison.
Police have helped as well. Harrison asked for extra patrols, and got them. She feels that the criminals know the residents’ schedules. Police say more marked and unmarked cars now patrol her street.
Police do not have any suspect descriptions for any of the break-ins. They ask residents to report any suspicious activity, and if you see a crime in progress, pick up the phone and call 911.
