Jacksonville schools should be released from PCSSD. I have seen a steady decline in the schools since my first son graduated from there in 1991,an this crap was going on then. I removed my other son a few years later into another school out of PCSSD. I love Jacksonville but it is becoming run down without their own school. Parents would then be more inclined to help out in their own towns!

There are alot of older school buildings in the county as it is. And it doesn't appear their budgets are getting any better. Jacksonville has been trying to separate themselves from PCSSD and form their own school district. Why don't they use this as an oppurtunity to do so and fix the schools?

The thing is the board could care less about Jacksonville. Right now all they care about is Mills High School and Maumelle.

Not only is it bad for the students, but who wants to work in such conditions? How can you attract or keep good teachers? Or does the Board care if there are good teachers?

Maybe half of the school board needs to be high school seniors. They know first hand what is going on.

First of all, kudos to the students who took it upon themselves to state the obvious to the higher ups who are not paying attention to them, but to their pocketbooks. Unfortunately dur to the Desegregation litigation and requirements (yes that includes NCLB), Jacksonville will never become their own district...color is more important than intelligence...

The fact is that Jacksonville High School has long been the worst school in the district but the fact remains that they rebuild the Oak Grove High School because Clark and Wood dominate the school board. Gilliland who should be for the Jacksonville area instead always votes for what the other two say and Tatum doesn't have enough sense to know what she wants so she just jumps on with the rest. This board needs to be completely removed and some people with a little intellectual foresight need to be put on. Until thin the board of four will continue to ruin this school district.
