LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Pulaski County judge has overturned the Pulaski County Special School District's decertification of a union representing teachers.
Judge Tim Fox ruled that the board has the authority to end the agreement to negotiate with the Pulaski Association of Classroom Teachers. But Fox said the board didn't meet the legal requirements to do so.
The judge says state law requires the board to have a set of personnel policies or a personnel policy committee in place before withdrawing union recognition.
The board voted 4-2 in December to withdraw recognition of the union after union officials criticized the board's failure to act on proposed contracts.
