TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — A federal judge has denied a request to move a civil lawsuit against jailed evangelist Tony Alamo from Texarkana.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Susan Hickey rejected a request from Alamo's attorneys for a new trial location. Alamo argues that trying the case in Texarkana wouldn't be fair because potential jurors have already been exposed to publicity regarding the jailed evangelist.

Alamo is serving a 175-year federal sentence on sex-crime convictions. The civil lawsuit was filed in 2010 by six former wives of Alamo and a seventh woman who said she was being groomed to be his wife when she escaped Alamo's house.

David Carter, an attorney for the women, tells the Texarkana Gazette that he's confident a jury seated in Texarkana could fairly consider the case.

Gee Tony, I'm guessing those little girls you were fondling and raping would have like a change of venue as well. This guy deserves everything he has coming to him.
