Airplane Makes Safe Landing In Little Rock After Engine Trouble

American Airlines flight made an unscheduled stop at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport shortly after noon on Sunday.

LITTLE ROCK, AR-- American Airlines Flight 1111 has landed safely after developing engine trouble.

The MD-80 made an emergency landing at the Bill and Hillary National Airport at 12:25 p.m.

Airport spokesperson Shane Carter says the flight originated in Charlotte and was destined for Dallas.

The flight developed trouble with one engine shortly after takeoff.

An emergency was declared and the flight routed to Little Rock.

The plane was able to land without incident.

136 passengers and a crew of five were on board, according to Carter.

The plane is being inspected at the airport to determine the nature of the trouble.

American Airlines expects all of the passengers to be booked on flights to Dallas by this evening.
