President Obama Says the U.S. Should Take Military Action in Syria

The President says he will seek congressional authorization for response to alleged use of chemical weapons.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- President Barack Obama said that the United States "should take military action against Syrian targets".

He made the remarks in a Rose Garden address Saturday afternoon.

However, he said he would seek congressional authorization when federal lawmakers return from recess.

Congress is set to return on September 9th.

"Today I'm asking Congress to send a message to the world that we are united as one nation," said President Obama.
