KENSETT, Ark. (AP) — The Kensett City Council and district court have found new places to meet after a fire destroyed the town's municipal building.

Mayor Max McDonald tells The Daily Citizen that the council will meet at First Baptist Church on Wilbur Mills Ave., while the district court will convene at the White County Law Enforcement Center on Booth Road.

McDonald says the city is still awaiting an official damage estimate from an insurance company but that he estimates the loss at $100,000. The next regular council meeting is set for Feb. 21.

The Sunday fire also destroyed a beauty salon, a used furniture store and two apartments, but no one was injured. Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
