LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Little Rock School District is making international headlines with its new dress code for teachers and staff.Superintendent Dexter Suggs imposed the new guidelines to go into effect next school year.
Among the changes -- teachers are required to wear undergarments.
Teachers and staff are also banned from wearing flip flops.
Cathy Koehler, who represents Little Rock Education Association, agrees with the tweaked code.
"Anything can be a distraction in the classroom environment, and what we're trying to do is do as much as possible and professional and move beyond those things that would be a distraction so students can be focused on learning," Koehler said. The superintendent says an appropriately-dressed employee is viewed as a role model for students.
