LITTLE ROCK, AR-- School is where students should be and not jail. That's why Saturday, Little Rock police sponsored a back to school session at Dunbar Middle, reminding kids the main reason for education.

"We want to see our young people achieve," said Sgt. Willie Davis.

Social networking was one of the big topics discussed. Presenters reminded kids about the possible dangers of sites like Facebook and Twitter.

The session was organized by the department's "Our Kids" program, which hopes to keep kids focused on their studies.

"It helps me by keeping my grades up and staying out of trouble," said 8th grader Terryl Humphrey.

8th grader Solomon Brown agrees.

"It helps to control my anger and Sgt. Davis is a good help," said Brown.

Representatives from the juvenile court system also made presentations.

How sad...I noticed the same thing Ar Yankee...this is a true reflection of how important education is to those kids parents. I realize that some parents probably couldn't make it due to wrk, but really, there are more empty seats then filled seats. Yes, nice try LRPD and good job for the folks that attended.

Looking at the picture; doesn't seem like they filled the seats, does it? Guess the one's this was meant for were "skipping" class. Nice try anyway LRPD; but gang members, drug dealers, and thugs are not interested.
