LRSD Begins 2013 'Artistry In The Rock' Event Sunday

Event features displays by students and staffers.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Little Rock School District began its 3rd 'Annual Artistry in the Rock' event Sunday.

The public is invited to a talent showcase featuring student performances and art displays at the Metroplex Event Center at 10800 Colonel Glenn Road

Leaders say new this year are scholarships, which will be awarded to deserving students interested in the arts. Families will also be able to enjoy presentations that include dance, vocal, drama, instrumental and visual arts throughout the three-day festival.

The expanded event includes a night performance for adults only Tuesday evening, where guests will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items that have been created and donated by LRSD teachers and staff.

Proceeds benefit the District's fine arts program and the scholarship effort.  Jazz and gospel entertainment, provided by talented faculty and staff members, will be a part of the Tuesday night line-up.  That program begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Here is the Artistry in the Rock Schedule:
Sunday, April 28, 1-7 p.m.
Monday, April 29, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Tuesday, April 30, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.; Adults only 7 p.m. - live jazz performances
