TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — When Texarkana, Texas had a magazine published to promote the city, officials in Texarkana, Ark., took offense.

Now, the Texarkana Gazette reports that the Arkansas side will spend $30,000 on a 16-page spread in a regional magazine to highlight its own side.

The Texas side paid for a local publication to do a special issue called "Texarkana: The Magazine." Arkansas-side officials complain that the magazine focuses on the Texas side and its forthcoming convention center while giving the Arkansas side short shrift.

They talked about suing the publication, Four States Living Magazine. The magazine then offered Arkansas-side officials the same rate to do their own issue, but the officials declined.

Texarkana has separate management on each side of the Texas-Arkansas border.
