Butch hit the nail on the head. People are getting smarter, and have stopped throwing their money away. I haven't spent a dime on the lottery myself; but if throwing your dough away is your thing, go for it. I have to agree with Ms Ellie also; give the dough to those that have proven themselves as far as higher education is concerned; we know they are there for the long haul. I've seen it for myself; at PTC. Kids spending their student loans and grants on expensive clothes and bling, and coming to class without books or paper - not even something to write with!

im sure the sales of strach tickets are way down even clearks at the store says no ones winnig any more if they do win its just th amout they paid for ticket in the first year out lots of winners if you want sales to go up let the winning tickets back only ticket winninng are a few twenty dollar ones for show

Every state with a lottey has the same problem - which Arkansas was told about PRIOR to starting the lottery. I would rather contribute $52.00 a year to the fund... oh wait you can not just GIVE money to the college fund... darn. Oh yes... the scholorships do not go to older students, non-traditional student or others who are already working hard for an education. The money goes first to kids who have not even tried college to see if they want to continue or if they have what it takes. Most of those that start college on the scholorship do not continue & some drop out the first semester & do not have to repay the money drop out or fail. Gee... now why don't I buy lottery tickets?!?

Powerball got greedy, doubled the ticket price and lowered the odds. Not fun any more.

What did they expect. I would have figured on sales slipping a little after the new wore of it. A lot of people figured out you could save the money you wasted and get a bigger prize in the end. A fatter savings account. Then what else with the economy. The money isn't there to waste on hope. I can't afford to play with my money. You should have looked at what all my copays went to after the courts ruled on Obama and cohorts medical plan.
