LITTLE ROCK, AR - Little Rock residents opposed to plans of building a Technology Park in their neighborhood spoke out at City Hall Tuesday.

They’ve organized a group called the “We Shall Not Be Moved Coalition” (WSNBMC). They say they believe the park is a good thing, but not at their expense. They are urging city leaders to build the park in a non-residential area.

The Little Rock Technology Park Authority is currently considering three locations for the Tech Park to be built. Once a location is selected, residents in the chosen location will mostly likely have their homes acquired via eminent domain.

The Little Rock Board of Directors said they will meet again on June 19th to discuss available Tech Park options.

I disagree with placing a tech park in someone's neighborhood. Causing people to be displaced is outrageous. It is not right for homeowners to have to start over because the city wants to make more money. Never mind the history and memories have in the households that they're trying to tear down. I know of one neighborhood that they're trying to put a tech park and it would cause my Mom much grief. As a child I grew up in that house and my children are there every day. My Mom is also disabled and unable to just uproot and start over else where. This is The Natural State. There are plenty of places full of land for the city to build a tech park. HAVE A HEART!!!

I don't work for the city nor do I have a vested interest in this park. But what you don't realize is that this park is actually going to improve the surrounding neighborhoods. I don't think that anyone can argue that the areas that are proposed for the park could use to be cleaned up and cleaned out. It's time we take the heart of this city back from the thuggery that has plagued it for so many years. If that means displacing a few residents for the benefit of many than so be it. I'm all for it as long as the city provides an above average price for the properties.
