In today's Idol Chatter, we're looking ahead to tonight's American Idol with some special interest.

That's because one of the competitors, Charlie Askew, is from Little Rock.

He's trying to make it into the show's Top 10.

Charlie's mom, Gini Freemyer, joined Good Day's Deedra Wilson to talk about the excitement of having her son compete on the show.

I thought that Charlie was the only one of the guys who could have gotten to the top. The others were so boring, & it's so obvious the way they always end up with an even number from the ethnic groups for the top 5 guys. There's no way the votes could have ended like that. I don't think they even count the votes because those people running the show know who they want to put on there, & they've lost it really bad. None of the guys they chose are worth watching. The girls might be okay but the producers will ruin that group too, and there's no way I could stand to watch that show if I had to listen to any one of those guys again, so I'm through with it. I have no respect for any of those judges anymore because if Charlie did one bad song they could have shown some class and been nice about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't act the way they did to just purposely see if they could get him to cry thinking they were adding some drama to the show. That was disgusting & just totally turned me off those judges forever. It wasn't because Charlie was so young and couldn't take what they dished out, it was the total unfair treatment he got from them after they had praised him so much before. I would have been crying too just because of the unfairness of it all and the frustration I would be feeling. I just realized this season that the show has to be a total fraud on the American people and they lie to people about how many people called in to vote, because that was impossible with the group they said made the top 5. What a laugh that show is beginning to be. It can't last much longer the way it's going. If they had kept Charlie they would have had one bright spot on the show and 1 person that everyone else would be tuning in just to see him & what he was going to do next, & if votes really did count (which they don't) then Charlie would have won the show or at least be the last guy standing. Those people are killing their own show & they deserve what they get!
