NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Hundreds of young soccer players show off their skills at the Windstream Bluebird Classic. The event brought 65 teams together to play in the tournament of kids ranging from 7 to 14 years old.

A lot of practice takes place before coming.

"I train 3 days a week and about an hour and a half everyday," said player Alexis Ayers.

The teams are from Arkansas and as far away as Jackson, Mississippi, meaning local businesses are getting a positive kick in sales.

"Over 50 percent of the teams are from out of state, using local hotels and restaurants," said planner Chris Owen.

Even though teams compete for medals, the main focus is on teamwork and enjoying the sport.

"Truly soccer unites us as a family. We spend the entire weekend out here, watching our kids play," said parent Stacey Ayers.
