The whole design of this intersection is a mess. Why is I-30 3 Lanes, most of 430 is 3-Lanes, yet this one little strip is still 2 lanes? Why didn't they make 430 3 lanes all the way to the 30 Interchange to begin with instead of just to Stagecoach. That intersection is already a nightmare, I know it's going to be even worse once construction starts.

Touch of Gray - I agree. But it's mostly people who don't know what lane to be in - and that problem is not isolated to 30/430. I travel 40W to 30W every morning, and I regularly have people going 50 cut me off (speed limit is 60, and I do at least that) as they run from 67/167 to the far left lane on 40 - and they don't speed up, and then they hit their brakes because they're getting off at Curtis Sykes - the first off-ramp to the right after the 40E merge. So they go slow, causing a back-up, cross 4 lanes (to avoid traffic???) to get to the left lane, then slow traffic again as they ride the brakes to cross 4 more lanes to take that off-ramp. And they do it every morning. I blame Driver's Education Failure. But they are insulated from "What Goes On Out There" while in their own car/universe. And normally it seems like they just don't care and can't be bothered.

The problem is not the people who switch lanes. It the drivers who do not know how to merge correctly. They are the ones causing the problems. If they move the Otter Creek exit so traffic won't crisscross, then traffic would flow smoother and merging traffic from 430 won't have to slow down. Sheesh.

I agree about the "line jumpers" - 2 lanes will not get rid of them. BTW, just how long ago was that area of interstate "upgraded"? I think paying a state trooper to sit there everyday from 4-5:30 would be much cheaper, and more efficient.

So, with this change, impatient drivers who don't like to wait in line will be able to speed as usual without risking a collision when they jump in front of slow moving vehicles. As usual it looks like the traffic flow planners come from Pennsylvania. Little Rock needs money really bad - This intersection AND the 630/30 Eastbound would be real moneymakers if LEA would patrol these area's LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TOO!
