Man Charged with Allegedly Stealing Military Grave Markers for Scrap Metal

Investigators say 44-year-old Harold Matson Law tried to sell the markers to a scrap yard in Pine Bluff.

PINE BLUFF, AR- A man is facing charges he stole grave markers in an attempt to sell them as scrap metal.

44-year-old Harold Matson Law is charged with nine counts of Destruction or Removal of a Cemetery or Grave Marker, plus nine counts of Theft of Property.

Investigators say Law tried to sell the nine brass grave markers to a scrap yard on Princeton Pike in Pine Bluff.

The pieces are worth an estimated $1,800.00 per marker.

An alert clerk took the matter to the authorities.

An investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Officer concluded that the markers had all been taken from two Pine Bluff cemeteries.

Bond has been set at $25,000.00.

Law remains in custody.

Arrangements have been made for the family of the deceased to reclaim the markers.
