CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — A man charged with capital murder for the slayings of two men in Conway in 2002 is to be returned to Arkansas to stand trial.
Prosecutors say 61-year-old Richard Conte should be back in Arkansas by Oct. 7 from the Nevada prison where he has been held.
Conte, a former physician, was charged in the Arkansas slayings of 48-year-old Carter Elliott and 25-year-old Timothy Robertson. The charges were filed this year as he finished a kidnapping sentence he was serving in Nevada.
The Log Cabin Democrat reports that Conte lost a bid to avoid extradition. Prosecutor Cody Highland says he's obtained a governor's warrant to have Conte returned.
