Man accused in killing, fleeing gets new trial date

A new trial date has been set for a Conway man charged with first-degree murder in a 2009 killing.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — A new trial date has been set for a Conway man charged with first-degree murder in a 2009 killing.

Karon Mohammed is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 21. Mohammed's attorney, Frank Shaw, told the Conway Log Cabin Democrat that besides the murder count, Mohammed also has been charged with felony possession of a firearm and fleeing.

Mohammed was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in Garland County June 27 in connection with the death of Sean Robinson. Just hours before the court date, Mohammed called emergency operators in Conway to report that he heard someone in his apartment.

Conway police found blood at Mohammed's residence and declared him a missing person. He was found several days later in Ohio.

Mohammed remains in custody without bond.
