Man accused of running over, killing teen pleads not guilty

ladyofthehill; how right you are! If a non black had done this, you can bet Al and Jesse would have been in town; we would have made national news; perhaps even Holder would have became involved; and of course, there would have been those that live off the taxpayers taking to the streets to protest, cause civil unrest, riot, etc. Regardless of color though; I feel sorry for all involved; sad that the boy lost his life, sad that Mr. Sadler used poor judgment. Yes everyone, I misspelled judgment in my last post on this subject; my apolgies. And yes, the parents are as much at fault as anyone in this case. When I was around 5 or 6, I took a neighbors ball from his yard, and yes, my Dad whipped me enough to teach me something - never take what isn't yours! Work for what you want, or inherit it; but don't take something that belongs to someone else that they worked hard for. Not enough parents in today's world are teaching their children the same values and respect that we were taught; woe to our once great country.

I am just glad they were of the same race because Al sharpton and Jesse jackson would be coming down fast and furious.This kid needed to be whipped like a rented mule and i think he would learn you don't take what isn't yours.Maybe the parents tried i don't know but,i know if i had done this and my dad found out it would be Katie bar the door he would have beat me within a inch of my life.

I see no crime other than poor judgement. If guilty, then probation would be more fitting than prison. Mr. Sadler more than likely took out a career criminal in the making when he ran over this little thief. Sad that the boy lost his life; even sadder is facing his Maker and explaining how he got there! A wallet is nothing; what's in it is everything; too many things to list; and most would take a great deal of time and money to replace. Again, not enough reason for the boy to lose his life; but then what the state would have given him would not have satisfied me for the trouble I'd have to go through replacing everything, provided he were even caught to face punishment. Perhaps the parents learned something that will help them raise their other children in a manner that would be fitting so that they will not be career criminals.

the Old Man told me about conseguences when i was younger than this kid...i was taught about consequences from the time i was born...but the most important lesson i was taught was not try to avoid the conseguences by blaming others...live with your bad decisions in the raising of this child...quit trying to avoid responsibility...its not this man fault that your child is a thief

I've been thinking about this. A 14 year old taking a wallet doesn't look like a reason to kill. The guy probably didn't intend to. But he did. The child may have set out to steal the wallet and he did. One of the first lessons I remember learning is two wrongs do not make a right. Who was supposed to be the wiser more learned of the two. I say take him to trail and make the punishment fit the crime.

Maumelle convicted sex offender of 10 yr. old gets 5 yrs. probation, $5,000 fine and court costs and has to register as felon sex offender. Is there not something wrong with this picture? He took alot more than some money from his victim and was a heck of alot older.

Guess a human life isn't worth much these days. But I don't think death is the right punishment for taking a wallet. There are many people who start out on the wrong foot and end up doing good. I'd rather give up the money than take a life. Just wonder how you justify stealing the truth when you lie, take a pencil from work, accept too much change from the cashier which is ALL theft. The sins of the parents on the children? Guess GOD is no longer the judge as HE would see ALL theft the same. It's all just sad the low value we place on human life. Getting more like China everyday.

Certainly a harsh penalty but 14 years old and already committing robbery? Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing to end early what appears to be a career criminal in the making.

Maby it was not right what he did ,but the kid was a thief and he stole.the parents needs to be lible to some extent[but they had so many kidds they didn;t even know where they all were],if they did this kid would have been in school instaead of out stealing.
