Man arrested for girlfriend's death

Authorities have arrested a White County man in connection with the death of his girlfriend whose shooting was originally reported as a suicide.
SEARCY, AR - Authorities have arrested a White County man in connection with the death of his girlfriend whose shooting was originally reported as a suicide.

On April 20, 2012 deputies were called to 120 Cut Off Road, outside of Searcy, for a report of a suicide. When they arrived they found 42-year-old Donna Kennedy unresponsive with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her head.

Deputies say 48-year-old Charles Scott Berry told them at the time that Kennedy had shot herself.

Investigators later determined that Kennedy did not shoot herself. Berry, who the AP identifies as Kennedy's boyfriend at the time, was arrested charged with Second-Degree Murder.

Berry is being held at the White County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond and has a court date of September 4, 2012.
