LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Police arrested a man at Little Rock National Airport for having a gun in his carry-on bag.
Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings said Tuesday the arrest was the third incident in recent days of people caught with firearms while trying to get through security at the airport.
Hastings says each instance was accidental, but each incident was also followed by the arrest of the person with the gun.
In some cases, Hastings says people with concealed carry permits forget to leave their guns at home when preparing to travel.
The most recent arrest was Friday, when 30-year-old Jeffrey Don Splawn of Hot Springs was charged with carrying a bag with a loaded pistol into the security area.
