BENTON, AR – Benton Police arrested a man and charged him, for the second time in two months, with kidnapping his ex-wife.
Police say Gerald Schmidt took his ex-wife, Yin Yan Schmidt, away from her home at gunpoint on New Year’s Eve. Early New Year’s Day, police found the couple in an Econo Lodge on I-30 in Benton.
Gerald Schmidt was arrested in Texas at the end of October in a
similar incident with his ex-wife. He was extradited back to Arkansas for that crime and was out on a $50,000 sheriff’s bond.
