FULTON, Ark. (AP) - Wildlife officers in Miller County are citing a man for killing endangered species in an illegal hoop net. Investigators say the suspect is responsible for the deaths of an alligator, an alligator snapping turtle and an alligator gar.

Authorities say 34-year-old Jason Oller of Miller County has a June 11 court date to answer citations for killing an 8-foot alligator, a turtle and the alligator gar. He could be fined nearly $2,500.

Game and Fish Commission officers say Oller is accused of using 11 illegal hoop nets. The Texarkana Gazette reports that a wildlife officer found the dead animals in late April on the river near Fulton.

Officials say a number of small mammals and fish were also found dead and decomposing in the illegal nets.

Wildlife officers have made a number of recent arrests for illegal nets on the Red River in southwest Arkansas.

An alligator gar, and an alligator turtle, and an alligator alligator got caught in some chickenwire and now we have to ban fishing. How about chickens and cattle? Do we have to stop eating them too? I'm sorry but I was born carnivorous and I haven't seen any studies that indicate that vegetarians live longer than than the rest of us. Ever heard of the effect of fish oil on cholesterol? Did the Man say cast your net on the other side of the boat to snare seaweed? Did the Man pass out vegetable burgers on the mountain to the masses or was it fish and a few loaves of bread? Maybe a guy named bean has to eat only beans but this alligator convention is not gonna keep this carnivore from chowing down on an occasional rainbow trout. And if the turtle is so intelligent how did he get caught in that chicken wire?

I hate to find out that someone has killed turtles. They're more intelligent than what most people realize, and their biology could teach scientists how to give us biological immortality. The way to better health is not by eating turtles and other wild animals - Butch54. Is your heart doctor a witch doctor or a voodoo specialist? All fishing should be banned.

Mighty good eating went to waste there. God provided us with these fine dinning animals for our pleasurable eating. They should not be wasted. Eat more wild meat and drink fine wine. My heart doctor says it is doing wonders for me. 10 to 15 percent improvement in 7 years.

I'm tried of all the illegal hunting and fishing people do and try and get away with it. Send him to jail for 20 plus years and fine him $100,000. See if that doesn't stop people from doing that.

Gator, turtle soup is good, had it a coupe of times when I was Louisiana. Should have followed the rules... regardless. If it was on his own property and he was feeding his family, well I would take another view on this third hand info...

Chances are if he was fishing with illegal nets, he was never worried about getting a fishing or hunting license.

This person should be charges to the fullest extent. He should never be allowed to have a hunting or fishing license ever. If I found anything like this I would call Game & Fish.
