Man claims responsibility for Pangburn KKK fliers

PANGBURN, AR - People in the small town of Pangburn are being recruited to join the Ku Klux Klan. As police work to find out who is placing fliers all over the small White County town, the man claiming responsibility reached out to FOX16 News.

The flier is simple, sparse and gets a response. The KKK flier showed up on utility poles this week in Pangburn until police took them down for being posted on public property.

“Some people are outright against it and want to know how this can happen and we have to educate them that no law is being broken," Pangburn police chief Erik Reep says.

Pangburn mayor Gary Doyle says no one is claiming responsibility.

"It hurts the image of the city and I really hate that for the community," Doyle says. "It is frustrating not knowing who it is."

The flier comes back to a P.O. Box 192 at the Pangburn post office.

However, FOX16 News spoke with multiple sources who confirmed the home address of the man responsible. No one answered when we knocked at the house with the Aryan Nation flag flying outside, but later a man called us back saying he wanted to talk, but wanted his identity concealed.

"Yes we put out the fliers, we didn't mean it to offend which honestly we knew it would offend some," the self-proclaimed KKK member told us.

He wouldn't say how many members are in his KKK group but told us he wants new recruits, a tactic not sitting well with the town's lunch crowd.

"I'm shocked, I'm shocked. I never thought anything like that would happen in Pangburn," Brenda Davis says.

"We weren't trying to offend anybody,” the KKK member says. Goins says: “Even though the image of someone in a white hood is extremely offensive?" KKK member says: "Yeah, like I said, we were just trying to do our thing and we didn't quite mean to scare or offend anybody."

Pangburn police says they now want to meet with the man FOX16 interviewed who claims responsibility for the fliers.

The man who claims responsibility for the fliers says his group is not affiliated with larger national Klan groups. He says his group does not hate other ethnic and racial groups but will only allow white Christians to join.
