LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Scott County man arrested last August by agents with the Attorney General’s Office today pleaded guilty to multiple counts of possession of child pornography, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced in a release.

According to reports, 34-year-old Richard W. King of Waldron was sentenced to 80 years in prison after pleading guilty to eight counts of possessing, distributing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. King was sentenced to 120 months on each count, with those sentences to be served consecutively.

King’s conviction is the first to result from an arrest by the Attorney General’s new Cyber Crimes Unit, which launched last May.

“This man will now spend a significant amount of time in the penitentiary away from our children and cut off from the ability to continue to harm them,” McDaniel said. “It’s our goal in the Attorney General’s Office to be an active leader in the fight against Internet crimes against children, and I am pleased that we have secured our first conviction in this fight. “

King was arrested following an investigation by the Cyber Crimes Unit that began last June. Multiple images of child pornography were found on a laptop computer belonging to King after a full forensic examination of the computer at the Cyber Crimes Unit Forensic Lab in Little Rock. Also, King admitted to investigators that he had downloaded approximately 15 videos of child pornography.

In addition to his prison sentence, King will be required to register as a sex offender.

King has been held in the Scott County Jail since his arrest. He will remain there until he is transferred into the custody of the Arkansas Department of Correction to serve his sentence.

Ya know, these perverts are coming out of the woods now, and all we do is lock them up, leaving us to pay more taxes, as if we dont pay enough. I have to pay state and federal tax this year, and i am in a median tax bracket, where and when is this gonna end? Jail is not an alternative, or make them work, pay their way for food elec and all. Dammit it to hell

Unfortunately, i know this man. As much as i thought of him as being socially awkward and a bit odd, i never imagined he'd be involved in child pornography. He deserves to be locked up for the rest of his life without possibility of parole. I hope and pray his children are given serious counselling. Also, his former wife is one of the most kind, albeit naive, women on the planet. She needs counselling as well.

while I'm glad that this sick perv will spend the rest of his life in prison, it's sad that you get more time for having child pornography than they do for the act of molesting a child.

I am with ya dilli - these sickos are not rehab material and not worth giving second chances to get out and molest some kid. If he would have stuck with fishing and golf, he would still be a free man.

He got ten years for each count, good. Now, the guy that had 6,000 counts should get the same. That would give him a 60,000 year sentence, which should make damn sure the parole board wont let him out early. LOL.
