CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - A Conway man who suffered multiple burns in a house fire has died.

Authorities say off-duty firefighter, Capt. Phil Kirkland, spotted the blaze about 8 p.m. Sunday as he was headed home. Fire Chief Bart Castleberry told the Log Cabin Democrat that a woman Kirkland saw standing on the porch of the house told him 63-year-old Tom Southerland was inside.

Southerland was first taken to Conway Regional Medical Center, then was transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital at Little Rock, where he died.

Conway police spokeswoman LaTresha Woodruff says the department isn't conducting a criminal investigation.

Fire Marshal Kenny Weidower said the cause of the fire was still under investigation on Monday.
