Man drowns in Faulkner Co quarry

MAYFLOWER, AR - The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office says a 28-year-old man drowned while swimming in a rock quarry in the Gold Creek area near Mayflower.

According to the sheriff's office, the man was swimming with his girlfriend’s three sons when they decided to swim across the quarry. However, when the man got half way he decided to turn back.

The boys saw he was struggling and two of them tried to help him but he sank under the water, according to the sheriff's office. The boys then ran home and called 911.

The body was recovered but the name of the man has not been released. Authorities say they are having trouble finding next of kin because the man was from Guatemala.

A man lost his life and most people only have negative posts. Sheesh! I feel sorry for the boys and their mom. This must be very traumatic for the kids.

@ wpsark..you're right..it was the first to come to mind..lol. The main point really that I'm makin is that we have no idea as to why he is here. I just get so tired of negative people and racial comments. I am white and was blessed to be raised in diverse cities. I learned spanish when I was 12 and learned how to cook authentic dishes from other cultures. My kids are biracial and doing well. I'm still a very proud American who loves life and others.

Lilred, I doubt an exchange student would be a 28yr old man dating a woman w/ three kids...Anyway, that's sad that it happened. The kids must be traumatized.

Wow charlie...a man dies and your worried if he is legal or not. This man could have been an exchange student, he could have a work visa..there could be several reasons as to why he was here. This country has a lot of illegals as well as legal. Besides I've noticed living in so many different States the illegals work harder then red blooded Americans.
