UPDATE: Man killed by Lonoke Co. deputy identified

The Arkansas State Police have identified a man shot to death by a Lonoke County deputy Thursday morning.
LONOKE COUNTY, AR – The Arkansas State Police have identified a man shot to death by a Lonoke County deputy Thursday morning.

He is 32-year-old Dustin R. Williamson, of Lonoke.

The shooting happened outside a home on Hwy 294 east of Jacksonville.

According to eyewitnesses, Williamson was having a psychotic episode which included swinging a bed frame at passing vehicles.

Lonoke County deputy Jack Fitzhugh responded to the home around 9:00am.

When the deputy pulled up to the driveway, witnesses say Williamson came around the corner of the home yelling and charged the deputy.

Fitzhugh fired a series of shots at the man from inside his cruiser killing him, witnesses say.

Arkansas State Police is handling the investigation.
