BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A Rogers man has pleaded not guilty to capital murder in the death of an 11-month-old boy.

Michael Proffitt Jr. entered the plea this week in Benton County Circuit Court. Prosecutors accuse him of killing the child at a Rogers motel on May 30 while he was babysitting the boy. The Morning News reports that the boy suffered a skull fracture, blunt force head injuries and numerous bruises on his face, neck and head.

An affidavit says Proffitt initially told police that the boy fell off a bed.

Proffitt is being held in the Benton County jail without bond. Prosecutors say attorneys will be appointed to represent him.

Circuit Judge Robin Green scheduled a court appearance for Proffitt on Aug. 6.

tel rooms are carpeted and the beds are not high enough to cause those kinds of injuries. Any one that would mistreat a child, especially a baby deserves no mercy in court or anywhere else. May he rot in Hell.
