LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Game and Fish says a man who was drinking went for a swim in the Arkansas River and almost didn’t make it out.

The man, reportedly an airman who returned from deployment last week, was rescued by several people who were with him. They were able to get him to a sandbar near Murray Park, where they began trying to resuscitate him.

Game and Fish personnel rescued him from the sandbar and gave him over to MEMS, who then took him by ambulance to UAMS.

At this time his name and condition are unknown.
