Man says AGFC officer forced him to kill pet deer

A man shoots his own pet deer - not for dangerous behavior - but because he says a Game and Fish officer gave him no other option.

If true, this is just another example of why AGFC officers are rapidly becoming the most despised branch of Arkansas law enforcement. If the man was given the option of turning them over to a rehab facility and chose to shoot them,then he is even more dispicable.

Aparently he didnt have any issues eating his 2 pets, rather than letting them go. Please go play the sympathy card somewhere else your a taxidermist for gods sake these were never pets, they were a source of meat for you.

Once again- I do have respect for a few authorities, of whom DON't abuse the law enforcement. Whomever said that this gentleman is known for violations- who cares about that. I know that authorities have no legal right to go onto private property without a warrant and order a citizen to kill an animal wild or not. Remove the innocent animal from the property in a HUMANE manner and then goto to the proper area of wildlife and release it. Never mind, this story just shows that law enforcement needs to be investigated for abuse of power-bottom line. Two innocent animals wild or not are now deceased- show some respect toward animals for all living sake!!!

here's more just recieved from someone close to the situation: this guy was begging the officer to "look the other way" and not call his boss to get advice (which he did anyway). Apparently because he knew he couldnt stand another violation on his record. The officer had the integrity and courage to uphold the law. And the compassion to only write the guy a warning. The violator is the one who said "just let me kill two of them and I will be in compliance" The officer said "that's up to you, they are your property, but we still gonna document this violation." He had the option to give to a rehabilitator, and he chose not to because he wanted the meat. This reporter better get both sides of the story next time. But then it wouldn't be newsworthy. VERY poor reporting.

This taxidermist, who has a record of serious hunting violations, told his kids to butcher the deer after daddy shoots them. So they were traumatised? haha. they have dead pet animals mounted all over thier house, and they can't stand the thought of killing a "pet"? give me a break. He let the doe deer out which is a violation, so they would get bred on purpose by wild buck, because he has no permit to legally propagate them. He took in deer that people brought him even though he cannot legally, because he is not a licensed rehab. And so he got over his limit and he's mortified when AGFC shows up? what a bunch of crap.

This is a good example of what happens when someone does not question authority. Or if he DID question the officer, I hate that he gave in to his fear of authority. I do not blame him for feeling intimidated....it's just a shame that fear of authority overrode his love for the animals. Very scary how most of us do the unthinkable, and are so quick to kowtow to someone we believe has some sort of jurisdiction over ourselves, and our freedom.
