GREENBRIER, AR – The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the late night shooting and stabbing death of a Greenbrier man. Arrested in connection to the crime is the victim’s wife’s ex-husband.

The sheriff’s office reports that Billy Joe Ewing was stabbed in the shoulder and shot once in the “throat area” at his home on 138A Laramie Road. Ewing told deputies that his assailant was his wife’s ex-husband, Clayton Monsees.

Amanda Ewing, according to the report, told deputies that she was in the bedroom with her 3 children during the attack. She says she heard her husband’s truck pull into driveway, the door slam, and then the gunshot. She says she looked outside and saw her husband and Monsees fighting, with a knife stuck in her husband’s shoulder. The sheriff’s office says that Amanda Ewing did not call 911 about the attack.

The person who did notify authorities was Billy Joe Ewing’s mom, who lives at 138B Laramie Road.
