LITTLE ROCK, AR – A man shot by an off-duty Little Rock Police officer Tuesday at the Park Plaza Mall now faces multiple felony charges.
According to the arrest report, police found cash and cocaine on Joseph Williams after he was shot. A search of his car found pain pills (Dilaudid), scales, and guns. Williams also gave a fake name to police, saying he was Jaquez Taylor.
The report says the shooting incident happened because Williams was trying to flee from officers due to having the drugs and weapons in his car. It says Williams was driving recklessly in the parking garage, nearly hitting several people. After wrecking his car, Williams fled on foot before being taken into custody.
Williams is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing, possession with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of guns and drugs, possession of Dilaudid, and obstruction of government operations (a misdemeanor).
Two others were arrested in the mall shooting, Keithen Pettus and Johnnie Campbell. It is unknown if they will be charged in the incident as well.
