ASHDOWN, Ark. (AP) — A man in southwest Arkansas is suing the city where he lives for installing a sewer lift station in his backyard without his permission.
The Texarkana Gazette reports Tuesday that Dale Ford said he returned to his property in Ashdown after a six-year absence to find that a sewage lift station and gravel access road had been built on his property.
The lift station pumps sewage to a higher elevation so it can flow downhill to a treatment area. It was installed in 2006.
Ford says he can't use his master bedroom or bathroom because of the odor of sewage.
Mayor Carroll McLarty has said the construction of the lift station was a "terrible embarrassment for the city."
