HOT SPRINGS, AR – A man suspected of running over and killing another man in Hot Springs was arrested by the Garland County Sheriff’s Department Friday.

Chase McGowan was arrested on charges of manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury accident, both felonies. The charges come in connection with an incident at Smyly’s Crab Shack where Ray Dautartas was killed when he was run over by a car.

According to the report, Dautartas was attempting to break up a fight between McGowan and others in the parking lot of the Crab Shack. Witnesses told investigators that McGowan backed up in his car with the door open, hit Dautartas, and then sped off, running over Dautartas.

McGowan is in jail on a $10,000 bond.

Mcgowan has posted his bail and is walking the streets. AND attending his classes at NPCC. He is actually in one of my classes at school. It's great to know that our goverment is letting me attend classes with a man being charged of manslaughter.

My first meeting with Raymond happened on his street. I can't remember what I said to him, but I'm sure he was offered. Raymond grabbed me and punched me a few times, then he lifted my bicycle over his head and threw it into the middle of the street. -my head was hurt, and my bike was broken.- This is how my friendship with Raymond began 37 years ago in the summer of 1974, in our home town of Cleveland, Ohio. For the next 4 years, we had a most antagonistic relationship. We argued and disagreed on everything possible; yet, always spending all our free time together, with 3 other friends. -We were a group of 5.- During our 4th year of friendship, we attended a party organized by an acquaintance of ours. At this party, 4 brave souls decided they would teach me a lesson for talking to their girlfriends. -4 against 1, I knew I was licked.- I figured I was in this on my own, and didn't have a chance. It wasn't Raymond's fight. I was talking to the girls, not Raymond. Raymond immediately recognized the injustice of the situation and landed the first blow on the biggest and first in line, knocking him to the ground. I followed by knocking the second one to the ground. The other two, decided to run away. That was the day I learned Raymond was my friend, and a man of judgment and justice. Raymond and I never stopped arguing and disagreeing, but we never stopped being friends. I imagine this is the case with all his friends in Arkansas. In Cleveland, we 4 remaining childhood friends proudly carried our Ray to his resting place. Knowing Raymond, I believe God will allow Raymond the privilege of knocking Chase Mcgowen to the ground for many years to come, with a manslaughter conviction on Chase's criminal record. -Raymond you won this one from the grave.- I only wish I was there for you, on your fateful day, the way you were there for me on mine. Rest in peace my friend Raymond; I couldn't imagine you would've become one of my oldest friends 37 years ago.

Libtard enablers have made it okay to do this to the financial supporters of the violent welfare-sucking destroyers of America. May the murderer be paid back a thousandfold, and may his family suffer.

Wasn't like that at all. He saw him before he ran him over and did it anyway. And didn't stop after. And no one was fighting the driver they were fighting the passenger.

Too many of you people are too quick to judge, and are unfit for jury duty. Some reporter should report what the fight was about, and why the suspect's car door was open when the car was put into motion. Maybe the suspect was just defending himself against an attack.

In reading some of these comments, I find some of these comments a bit disturbing. Be that as it may a man lost his life in a senseless act of violence gone astray. I've known Ray since '98 and he was a hell of a man. That was out of character for him to be out in the parking lot for such an altercation. The are a lot of laws or said laws by the ABC board that have affect on the bar industry in general. when have a mixture of alcohol, crowds,so said drugs, ect. good and bad things can happen regardless of the security provided. It doesn't matter if Ray was 40 or 140 years old he was still a human being trying to make a living like every one else in life. Will justice be served properly? Who knows. R.I.P. Ray

Well if You know this bar then you should know that ray has worked there for a long time and it hasn't always been the crowd that it is now. So I'm sorry but I don't think you should make comments unless you know what you are talking about. He was doing his job and did not deserve what happened to him. No one thought it was going to end like that but it did and the piece of trash that did it and then took off deserves a lot more than he is going to get.

Why is someone in their forties working as a bouncer? Sorry, it had to be said. I know this bar, and it's a hang out for kids.

The dead man was the "Bouncer"(security)for the club and was just trying to do his job and the man charged decided being the coward that he is to use a 3,000 pound car to blindside the bouncer.
