Man tells police he was shot by brother-in-law

Police responded to a shooting where the victim claimed he was shot by his brother-in-law Monday.
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Police responded to a shooting where the victim claimed he was shot by his brother-in-law Monday.

According to reports, on March 19th police responded to a call about a shooting at 6609 Tracy Avenue. When they arrived, they found the victim, 31-year-old Dwight Cooper, lying in front of a home and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Cooper told the police he was shot by his brother-in-law, 36-year-old Jack Banks of North Little Rock. Cooper told police Banks left the scene in a gray 4-door vehicle.

Police say Cooper was taken to UAMS, where he is listed in serious condition. The area was searched, but Banks was not found.

Cooper later told police that his wife, 38-year-old Demetria Banks-Cooper called him and told him to meet her at the house. When he arrived, he found the security code had changed. He walked around the house and when he returned to the front yard, Banks, Banks-Cooper and an unknown woman were waiting for him. Cooper said that he was attacked by Banks, who pistol whipped him while threatening to kill him, later shooting him multiple times. The suspects then left the scene in a gray vehicle.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
