For all the posters saying Maumelle is basically a rich spoiled town, you need to look at yourself. Maumelle may have received and applied for a special permit to continue the fireworks, but so did Little Rock and North Little Rock. So if Maumelle residents are nothing but a bunch of rich, classless, no manners, above the law people, then so are the residents of Little Rock and North Little Rock.

The rich people in Maumelle have a lot to learn about manners and class!! Rich people live in Marin County, or Malibu in California, or Sugar Lake or Hyde Park in Texas. The idea of a fireworks display just goes to show that Maumelle has no class, and never will. Maumelle is a back water town in a fetid and festering swamp!!

You rich people in Maumelle make me want to hurl chunks, you JUST have to have things your way, don't you? It just might be your house that the city burns down because you and your kids just have too have it! Get with the program morons. You all think you are above everyone else.

Maumelle has always considered themselves more special than anyone else. After all, they re-routed the highway and changed the freeway exits just to suit them. I'd be surprised if they didn't try to have gov Beebe re-route the pipelines from Conway's resevoir to go straight to Maumelle.

I want to know the deal about the "special permit"...who did they have to buy off for THAT? Seems Maumelle feels it is above everyone else and outside the "regular" laws and practices...how "special" are they and what (or who) is behind it?

Let's see how disappointed the kids are when their house or someone else's burns to the ground. I am all about firework shows on the 4th of July, but I am also all about using common sense. Even though they are wetting the grass where the display will be, they can not wet the grass in the overall coverage area. Fireworks go quite a ways up and you can not predict where they all will land. Right now, with the conditions we have, one small spark will lead to one massive fire. I hope the firework shows that are planned all go off without a hitch, but I'd be perfectly fine with waiting til its a lil bit wetter.

Maumelle seems to have bigger things to worry about right now other than a fireworks display, such as making sure residents have adequate water supply. It is rediculous to think people pay what they do to have a nice home and cannot even water their lawns. It will certainly be good advertising for the Little Rock Real Estate market.

Calling off the fireworks would have "disappointed the kids"? Well boo hoo. We can't have that.
