MAUMELLE, AR - Monday night, the Maumelle City Council voted to hold a Bond Project committee meeting the following Monday night at 6 to discuss future improvement projects across the city.

Two weeks ago, the City Council rejected a proposal to put a 6.6 mill continuation on the ballot in September. The Mayor had suggested five projects for this bond issue, and the City Council and some citizens did not agree to put those projects on a ballot. Instead, voters will likely be asked in 2013 or 2014 for a new millage to fund city projects which could range from a new indoor pool to road work.

Monday, some citizens spoke at the council meeting about how they want to make sure the Bond Project Committee does not duplicate working being done by the Strategic Planning Committee and the consultants being paid to come up with a 20 year plan for the city.

The Mayor also spoke Monday night about the need for a fire station on the south end of town.

And cops are related to this story how? Not really familiar with the area; but without looking at a map, I know there are lakes, large and small, all over central AR. wp; didn't know you couldn't swim there; puzzling as to why not. Afraid someone is going to take a leak in the lake? Don't they know turtles, fish, and other water critters do worse? The game warden wp; there is one in every crowd; whether you be at work, on the road, family gathering, or on the computer.

Arkansas Yankee, you can't swim in Lake Maumelle. It's a water reservoir. I found out the hard way when we were bank fishing a while ago. It got burning hot so we got in the water and there was a game warden or something that told us that you can't swim in the lake. Then he went about searching all of our tackle and everything else. He was an a-hole on a power trip.

Hey Maumelle; do what all the other cities do; raise taxes. After all, you greedy politicians never have enough for some reason. But please, concentrate on the roads; if someone wants to swim, don't you have a lake nearby?
